The Bengals may have underestimated the power of their trash talk when it comes to motivating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. In recent weeks, Bengals players have been vocal about their confidence in facing the former Super Bowl champions.
On Friday, the Mayor of Cincinnati asked Joe Burrow to take a paternity test to see if he was Patrick Mahomes' father. This mayor should not get involved. Yes, I know the fact that it technically has nothing to do with the Bengals but the principle stays the same. He got a few likes and possibly a few votes next election, but he has no idea what he just did.
Do you think Chiefs players and Patrick Mahomes especially, did not get wind of this? If Mahomes wasn't motivated enough to finally beat Burrow, someone calling Burrow your "daddy" should get it done. This was just stupid by the mayor to hype up Burrow even more. The mayor apologized by saying, "Bengals nation, Lol. I hear you. My competitive juices and love for cincy got the best of me. My bad. Staying hungry and humble. See you Sunday. Who Dey baby!" But the damage has already been done.
Next up is the Bengals calling Arrowhead Stadium, "Burrowhead." If I could put a face-palm emoji right now I would.

This would have been amazing had the Bengals already won the AFC Championship for this season. They will now just appear foolish if Mahomes completely destroys the Bengals tomorrow. I know Burrow is undefeated versus Mahomes. But you are giving Mahomes and the Chiefs a crazy amount of inspiration. They have now added defending their home to the motivation list. Defensive player of the year finalist, DT Chris Jones, ended his press conference the other day with "see y’all at Burrowhead Stadium."
Listen, the Bengals are undoubtedly good, but in the Wild Card Round, they just barely defeated the Ravens without Lamar. It took a fumble return for 99 yards to win. And let's face it, the Bills were the most overrated team. The Chiefs are an easy bet for me tomorrow. Tomorrow, you will discover just exactly why the Bengals shouldn't have lit the fire for the Chiefs.
It seems like everyone wants to be a Bengals fan right now, even if Arrowhead is one of the last places you want to play at. I want you to refer back to this and keep in mind what I said if they lose tomorrow. The Bengals seem to be making up stories and seem to have a chip on their shoulder. But if KC wins by more than 10 points tomorrow, that will just ruin everything.
Mahomes, known for his competitive spirit, has taken the Bengals' words as a challenge and has used it as fuel for his fire. In a recent interview, he stated that the trash talk has made him even more determined to prove the Bengals wrong on game day. He also mentioned that he and his teammates have been using the trash talk as motivation during their practices and team meetings. The Chiefs have been working hard to make sure they are ready for their matchup against the Bengals, and it's clear that the trash talk has only made them more focused and determined to come out on top. Mahomes and the Chiefs have a history of proving doubters wrong, and it seems that the Bengals' trash talk is only motivating them to do it once again.
The Bengals may have thought they were getting under the Chiefs' skin, but in reality, they have only made them stronger and more determined to win. It will be interesting to see how it plays out on the field and if the Bengals will regret their words.
