4 Key Things To Watch In Super Bowl

The Super Bowl LVII is just around the corner and the excitement surrounding the big game is palpable (SB). The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will face off in what promises to be a thrilling match-up, with two talented teams vying for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy. Here are four key things to watch in Super Bowl LVII.

Patrick Mahomes vs. the Eagles' Defense

The most significant storyline of the Super Bowl is undoubtedly the showdown between Patrick Mahomes and the Eagles' defense. Mahomes, the former Super Bowl MVP, and the league's most exciting quarterback will go head-to-head against one of the NFL's top defenses. The Eagles defense has been dominant this season, with their aggressive style of play putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks and forcing them into making mistakes. With this Eagles' defense and a pass rush that will pressure Mahomes all game, he will be put to the ultimate test. He'll need to have the ability to strike quickly and/or flee with his bum ankle. The Chiefs must get him used to protection right away. If Mahomes can overcome the Eagles' pressure, it will be a testament to his remarkable skills as a quarterback. On the other hand, if the Eagles can disrupt Mahomes' rhythm and prevent him from making big plays, it could spell trouble for the Chiefs.

The last time Jalen Hurts played in the big game was in the 2018 National Championship. A game where he was benched for Tua. He hasn't played exceptionally as of late, but he will have to against this Chiefs team. Some offenses use a quarterback, Jalen Hurts is the offense. His running prowess keeps opposing defenses on their toes during the run game, and his strong arm enables the Eagles to make decisive downfield plays. Yes, their excellent offensive line contributes to this offense's success, but Jalen Hurts is the star player. Hurts only had to throw 25 times and run 11 times for a total of 160 yards against the 49ers. The Eagles will need more from Hurts, but I am certain that Hurts is capable. He will be eager to prove his worth and show that he still has what it takes to lead his team to victory on the biggest stage.

The Battle of the Coaches

The Super Bowl is also a battle of the coaches, with two of the NFL's top minds facing off against each other. Eagles' head coach Nick Sirianni is known as a master strategist who knows how to get the best out of his team, while Chiefs' head coach Andy Reid is known for his creative play-calling and his ability to make the right decisions at the right time. He's among the most successful coaches in NFL history. Credit Nick Sirianni, who has guided the Eagles to the playoffs in both of his two seasons as head coach, and who has now guided the team to the big game. But, can one of the league's hottest young coaches beat one of the all-time greats? Reid's legacy may suffer if he fails to win this year's Super Bowl. He'll win one Super Bowl and lose three times (two with the Chiefs). Nick Sirianni, a less experienced and younger coach, will have defeated him. Reid already has a Hall of Fame resume, but winning a second championship would put him on the short list of the sport's all-time greats. The two coaches will be locked in a battle of wits, trying to outmaneuver each other and secure a victory for their respective teams.

Battle of the Trenches

Here, I'm going to talk about the entire battle between the game's "buffet boys." Because the Eagles can bring it, and I hope the Chiefs are prepared. The best NFL defensive front, the 49ers, was dominated by the Eagles' offensive line. I don't think Chiefs star Chris Jones will outperform himself as he did vs Cincinnati. Additionally, Frank Clark develops into an All-Pro during the postseason and is currently moving up the list of players with the most playoff sacks in history. The Eagles do, however, feature two of the league's top offensive tackles. How will the Chiefs make Hurts feel uneasy? The Eagles won't be stopped if the Chiefs can’t get pressure. As for Javon Hargrave and Haason Reddick on the other side, the Chiefs have good inside matchups, but dealing Reddick is gonna be problematic. This is the reason the Chiefs strengthened their offensive line following the defeat to Tampa Bay. I am excited about this contest and see how each team tries to neutralize each other's D-line.

Super Bowl LVII is shaping up to be an unforgettable game, with two talented teams, two exciting quarterbacks, and two of the NFL's best coaches all battling for supremacy. Whether it's Patrick Mahomes taking on the Eagles' defense, Jalen Hurts to the Super Bowl, or the battle of the coaches, there is no shortage of storylines to follow in this year's big game. Get ready for one of the most exciting Super Bowls in recent memory, as the Eagles and the Chiefs go head-to-head for the trophy.
